Citrus Health Network Presents: It Starts with You, Part 2. Supporting Regulation in Young Children.

Description: The first five years of life is a period of rapid brain growth that lays the foundation for self-regulation skills. Self-regulation skills contribute to school success, positive behaviors, and healthy relationships with others. The ability to self-regulate develops through repeated interactions with important caregivers in a child’s life through a process called co-regulation. This session will list the benefits of regulation skills for young children, describe co-regulation, and discuss how coregulation promotes the development of self-regulation in young children.

After this session participants will be able to:

  • List the benefits of regulation skills for young children
  • Describe co-regulation
  • Discuss how co-regulation promotes self-regulation in young children
  • List strategies for promoting regulation in young children
