This is an online Training.
Engaging in language and literature activities throughout the day provides young children with a strong grounding and necessary base for later academic learning. This training will assist participants in understanding how young children develop emergent language and literacy skills in age-appropriate music and movement and dramatic play activities that promote development as well as a love for reading and books. Knowledge of needed skills as well as how to incorporate these activities across the curriculum on a daily basis will be discussed. Participants will have the opportunity to plan and participate in activities designed to promote skills in a play-based curriculum that meet children’s needs in these areas. Use of quality children’s literature will be integrated throughout the training.

Review the progression of emergent language and literacy skills in young children by age
Discuss ways to support language and literacy throughout the curriculum
Plan and practice activities for language and literacy promotion

Important Notes: To receive CEU’s or In-service training hours, participants must adhere to attendance policy (see below). Participants must demonstrate learning gains. All learning outcomes must be met through course assessment, actively participate in class discussions and exercises, complete all assignments, and complete & submit evaluations., before a certificate will be awarded. Participants must attend the entire course. Partial CEUs or in-service hours cannot be offered.
