Healthy Beginnings, Part 2: Creating Secure and Nurturing Caregiving Relationships

Overview:

Attachment is an important framework for understanding human connection. Our earliest connections, the connections between a baby and caregivers, lay the foundation for healthy brain development and establish patterns for connecting with others later in life. This presentation provides an overview of attachment and strategies for how to foster a secure attachment with young children to promote healthy brain development, learning, and relationships.

After this session participants will be able to:

  • Define attachment and what it means to be a secure base
  • Describe serve and return
  • List strategies to nurture secure attachment in the caregiver- child relationship
