Promoting healthy social emotional development is key for success in learning and life. Research shows that social emotional skills lay the foundation for developing literacy, numeracy, and other important cognitive abilities. Healthy social emotional development is promoted through relationships with caregivers, including early learning professionals, that are nurturing and responsive. This presentation provides an overview of social emotional development, it’s impacts on learning in young children, and what early childhood professionals can do to promote social emotional development in young children to promote learning success
