Communication skills begin to emerge in the earliest months of life. Caregivers who engage in language in a social context with children are influential to their development of language skills. Participants will develop a knowledge based on, key milestones in language development, and the brain’s role in growth from birth to five years old. In addition to strategies that support early communication skills that will be explored.

Learning Outcomes:

Understand the difference between intentional communication and reflexive communication

Practice skills of joint attention

Categorize communication skills by age and how to support them

Support multilanguage learners

Important Notes: To receive CEUs, participants must adhere to attendance policy (see below), actively participate in class discussions and exercises, complete all assignments, and complete & submit evaluations. Training dates are subject to change. 

Attendance Policy:  Please plan accordingly for your commute as South Florida traffic and weather can be challenging. Arriving on time demonstrates respect for your facilitator and colleagues time. Participants more than 15 minutes late or who do not complete the training will NOT receive credit for the course. You will be asked to register for the next available session (if applicable).
